Matthew Miller Award Winning Artist

Matthew was born in Somerset in 1975 and grew up in Glastonbury. He has a creative flair for art with no formal training and has learnt his craft through trial and error.

When Matthew left school he trained in the motor industry and then went on to develop his fathers Business. After 16 years he decided to concentrate on his art work which, by this time was building great acclaim. It was a difficult decision to leave the 150 year old family business, but Matthew had to follow his dream.

His artistic talent landed him the role as Technician in the Art and DT department in a local school, he spends his time between this and continually developing his work and style.

2010 Matthew won 1st prize in the Somerton Arts week with his pencil drawing "Glastonbury Cow" and 2011 2nd prize with his colourful acrylic "Tranquillity"

Matthew works with many mediums including pencil, acrylic, and watercolour to name a few, and more recently using Air brushing as it gives him a very unique effect. He has been heavily involved with Somerset Carnival Clubs, designing the 100ft long carts, air brushing, and creating scale models from snakes to horses. He has repeat commission including portraits and caricature.

He is greatly inspired by his home town of Glastonbury, and this is evident in his work. Matthew has published a large range of his work including prints and cards including his Christmas card "Moo-rry Christmas" adapted from his well known Glastonbury Cow.

The Pink Cow

This pink cow was a one off print that I auctioned to raise money for breast cancer.

G Miller & Son 1950s

I sketched this picture from old photos of my dad when he was 18, out side the family run hardware shop he ran that I also worked in for sixteen years before giving it up to work more on my art career. The shop now has a great tattooist running his business there.
